Делаю статическую маршрутизацию, нужно показать роутеру пути в другие сети.
пишу:
ip route 192.168.2.1 255.255.255.0 200.5.5.1
192.168.2.1(адрес сети, в которую нужно попасть)
255.255.255.0 (маска)
200.5.5.1 (адрес на порте принимающего роутера)
выдает ошибку, Inconsistent address and mask, как исправить, вроде ввожу все правильно, может что то не ввел до этого?
благодарен любой помощи.

%Inconsistent address and mask
Typically you don’t want the router connections end to end to be the same interface, just asking for trouble. If I were you the S0/0/0 interface your using at the end of the route use the iP address of that interface instead and then press enter. See if it gives you and error then.
Additionally routing 192.168.1.1 would be an address not a routable subnet like 192.168.1.0, which would be.
As for you’re routes so you know, you want your next hop to be were you last part of the ip route to be.
For instance say on R2 on S0/0/0 is 192.168.5.1 and one R1 on S0/0/0 is 192.168.5.2. So say you want to get to 172.16.3.0 subnet from router 2 your ip route would be : «ip route 172.16.3.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.5.2». Placing that route on R2 would get you to subnet 172.16.3.0 via R1 serial interface at S0/0/0. Lastly any routes returning routes from R1 to R2 would be needed to make the back-n-fourth of data between routers.

First off give your router a hostname so we know which router your working on. If you are on Router 0 there are two way fix your problem. Either use a network ID or /32 address. You need to identify your objective with you static routes.

I have the following entries in my config file:
205.10.85.0 255.255.255.240 tunnel0
205.10.85.32 255.255.255.240 tunnel1
205.10.85.48 255.255.255.240 tunnel2
205.10.85.64 255.255.255.240 tunnel3
205.10.85.90 255.255.255.240 tunnel4
205.10.85.96 255.255.255.240 tunnel5
205.10.85.112 255.255.255.240 tunnel6
205.10.85.128 255.255.255.240 tunnel7
Another network person requested that the address for tunnel7 be changed to:
205.14.81.114 225.255.255.240 tunnel7
And when I type this in, I get the error,
‘%inconsistent address and mask’
I have attempted to explain to him that I cannot use this address as it falls in the range of allowable hosts for the 205.14.81.112 subnet, but he says it can be done. Without changing any other subnets/masks, anyone know how?

I agree that the address falls into the 205.14.81.112 subnet. Your valid hosts should be .113 — .126

Did you remove the config line:
«205.10.85.128 255.255.255.240 tunnel7»
before adding the new line in?
That could cause the problem.

This is basic subnetting. So few people know it.
I woild make him prove it to you in binary that it will work. Then make him do it on the router. I bet he will not. If he does you will learn something new. He is breaking a basic rule of IP networking. You can always play dumb and make them prove it.

205.14.81.144/28 is a host address. .112 is the network, and .127 is the broadcast for that subnet. Those are the facts.

Is this supposed to be 205.10.85.x or 205.14.81.x ?
205.14.81.114 /28 does not fall within the above specified 205.10.85.112 /28 subnet.
Although, as stated correctly above, it is a host address and not a network address; so it is still an invalid entry.
Just trying to figure things out.

Despite the typos ;), I agree that everyone’s correct.
.114 is a host address, you must use the network address of .112 on a /28 bit mask.
Your other network person is wrong.

Thanks everyone, for your input. It was a typo on my part, it could have ben either way, but the third octet was supposed to be the same.
Anyhow, he was wrong and I (and you) were correct. He realized it after coming to my workspace and seeing it for himself.

Cisco CLI Error: % Inconsistent address and mask
This error message may appear while attempting to configure a Static Route on a Layer 3 device running Cisco IOS.
What does this error mean?
This error indicates that the network address specified in the command is not a valid network address for the subnet mask specified.
The basic format of the ip route command as follows:
| ip | route | 192.168.1.0 | 255.255.255.0 | 10.0.0.1 |
| network address | subnet mask | next hop |
The network address parameter must be a valid network address when combined with the subnet mask parameter. When entering the ip route command on a Cisco router, if we see the error message «% Inconsistent address and mask» it indicates to us that the combination of the network address parameter and the subnet mask parameter is incorrect.
Example 1 (Mistake or typo when entering the network address):
Segment 2
172.20.100.96/30
172.20.100.97 172.20.100.98
Router1 Console
Router1(config)#ip route 10.8.1.1 255.255.255.0 172.20.100.98

The example above shows 2 routers and 3 network segments. In order to route traffic to Segment 3, Router1 requires a route to the network 10.8.1.0/24 .
To add the required static route on Router1 above we entered it as follows:
| ip | route | 10.8.1. 1 | 255.255.255.0 | 172.20.100.98 |
| network address | subnet mask | next hop |
However, 10.8.1. 1 is not a network address when combined with the Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0 (/24). 10.8.1. 1 is the first host address from the network 10.8.1. 0 255.255.255.0. The correct value for the network address paramter would be 10.8.1. 0 .
The correct ip route command would be:
| ip | route | 10.8.1. 0 | 255.255.255.0 | 172.20.100.98 |
| network address | subnet mask | next hop |
With the correct network address paramer, the router accepts the command:
Router1 Console
Router1(config)#ip route 10.8.1. 1 255.255.255.0 172.20.100.98

Router1(config)#ip route 10.8.1. 0 255.255.255.0 172.20.100.98

Example 2 (Mistake or typo when entering the subnet mask):
Segment 2
172.20.100.96/30
172.20.100.97 172.20.100.98
Router1 Console
Router1(config)#ip route 10.8.1.0 255.255.254.0 172.20.100.98

Considering the same scenario as previously, this time we try to enter the static route as follows:
| ip | route | 10.8.1.0 | 255.255.25 4 .0 | 172.20.100.98 |
| network address | subnet mask | next hop |
The IP address 10.8.1.0 is not a network address when combined with the subnet mask 255.255.25 4 .0. 10.8.1.0 is the 256th host address in the network 10.8. 0 .0 255.255.25 4 .0 (/2 3 )
10.8.0.0 255.255.25 4 .0 defines the range of IP address 10.8.0.0 — 10.8.1.255. The network address is 10.8.0.0 and the broadcast address is 10.8.1.255. (10.8.1.0 is a host address within this range.)
The correct subnet mask for this scenario is 255.255.25 5 .0. The correct command would be:
| ip | route | 10.8.1.0 | 255.255.25 5 .0 | 172.20.100.98 |
| network address | subnet mask | next hop |
With the correct subnet mask paramer, the router accepts the command:
Router1 Console
Router1(config)#ip route 10.8.1.0 255.255.25 4 .0 172.20.100.98

Conclusion
The error message «% Inconsistent address and mask» may appear while attempting to add a static route on a Cisco router. This error message indicates that the combination of the network address and subnet mask parameters does not define a valid network address.
