I built a new PC a month ago and so far haven’t had any issues until now. The first time I run Dying Light I get «Incorrect cable. Please use the dual link DVI cable that came with your monitor». I AM using the cable that came with my monitor. It’s DVI-I. I have an Acer GN246HL. I downloaded the monitor drivers from their site (they’re like 3 years old) but Windows won’t let me install them. It says third party INF doesn’t have digital signature information. The monitor options don’t let me change refresh rates either. MSI RX 470 GPU.
If I open the game with -safemode switch- at launch it starts in windowed mode, then I can enable fullscreen and increase the resolution but that’s kind of annoying.

Found this, although it may not apply in your case:
When using 3D Vision Surround, one or more of the 3D Vision monitors may display a message on top of your 3D game saying «Incorrect cable. Please use the DVI-DL cable that came with your monitor» even when you are using DVI-DL cables.
This error can occur when some monitors temporarily gets confused due to driver mode switches. To work around this issue, please follow one of these two solutions:
1) Change your monitor to another input and back and the message will disappear. The quickest way to do this is to use your monitor’s on-screen menu to switch to another input and then back.
2) If that doesn’t work, toggle the monitor front panel power Off/On.
Another blurb:
«If you have two DVI ports on your gfx card, one of them might be single link. Use the other DVI port.»

Helllo, yesterday bought a monitor — BENQ Zowie XL2411P. Monitor came with Display Cabel, but i don’t have port for that.. So i bought a DVI-DL cable for 144hz.. When i put 144hz screen is blurry and monitor saying this error — Incorrect cable. Please use the DVI dual link cable that came with your monitor.. First DVI cabel was for 5 bucks or something like that.. Today i bought better for 25 bucks, but still same error..

GPU — GeForce 750 ti 2GB
P.S I can pay for that guy who will solve this problem..

Why not just use a Display Port or HDMI cable? Looks like both the card and the monitor supports both of them.

With HDMI impossible to reach 144hz.. Like i said already, I don’t have Display Port..

Have you tried both DVI ports? I noticed the Nvidia specs say one DVI port is DVI-D (Digital only) and the other is DVI-I (Digital + Analog).

How many pins are in the DVI cable that you have? Do you see an 8×3 grid, or do you see two 3×3 grids? The first one is dual-link and the second is single-link. The blue pins in the middle here correspond to the second link:
If you see all 24 pins then it could be a bad cable, but I doubt it.

My gut says that shouldn’t matter since the analog signal should be unused as far as I know, but a lot of listings online for 750Tis advertise «DUAL-LINK DVI-I.» That means specifically that the DVI-I port carries two links. It should be easy to tell which is which looking at the back of the GPU. DVI-D has a horizontal slot on one side while DVI-I has a + with four pinholes around it. :thumb:

I have only 1 DVI port and it is DVI-D right one.

That looks like it should work well. How about trying different Nvidia driver versions? Also, have you tried running at 120Hz and seeing if you get the same issues?

Not working, and my monitor screen looks ****ty always when i go above 60Hz

So you bought a DVI-D Dual-Link cable and that matches your monitor and GPU port.
DVI Uses RGB signals. DL requires 2 sets of RGB signals from your video card.
If you are only sending one of the 2, you’re stuck with 60Hz of ugliness.
The issue probably lies with your NVidia driver and its settings unless your monitor uses a proprietary port pinout.
Just remembered! There are cable differences! When buying Dual Link DVI cables, you should make sure you get the high bandwidth version, capable of digital transmission rates up to 9.9Gbps. Last time I looked, they were expensive.

I just purchased a new Acer 144hz monitor that works perfectly fine. Whenever i switch the refresh rate to 144hz i can tell that it’s working yet there’s a pop up on my screen that says «Incorrect cable. Please use the dual link DVI cable that came with your monitor» If anyone knows a way to get rid of that pop up I would appreciate it.

The monitor isn’t liking the adapter for some reason. It may work for others but not yours.
Unless theres an option you can change in the monitor @ 60hz to get 120/144hz working i dont see any other option besides returning the screen for one with displayport.
Would make sense, dvi is on it’s last legs. More and more monitors are dp/hdmi only and gpus are heading that way too.

Well, are you using a dual-link cable? You can’t get 144hz on a single-link DVI cable.

My graphics card only has display ports and 1 hdmi port. I bought an adapter for it that can display 144hz but whenever i use that adapter the monitor tells me to use their cable, but when i use their cable in the adapter it cant handle anything above 60hz. I know that I’m capable of running 144hz but I can’t do it without the pop up

No adapter even active will give you 144hz from dp or hdmi.
Need a dp monitor or gpu with dvi

I guarantee you that 144hz is working, I’ve been using 60hz for the longest time and I notice a significant difference when using this adaptor.

Adapters do work i agree with you, but at demanding frequencies like 144hz its not possible, there are no active adapters that i know of that can achieve that. 120 hz yes.
You’re getting an incorrect cable message, it is not compatible at 144hz. So try back it off to 120hz

I just tried using the cable that came with the monitor and it can go up to 120hz without losing signal but for some reason it still shows the incorrect cable pop up, now I’m just confused

In the reviews of that link you provided of the adapter, someone managed 1440p @ 120hz but assumed 144hz would work @ 1080p answering someone else’s question if 144hz would work at 1080p.
It might, be the first adapter I’ve seen that works. Check each end of your dvi cable for any bent pins and is good fit.
The popup you get, it originates from the monitor? There may be an overlooked setting in the monitor that could turn off messaging
